Welcome to my blog! Most of you have found this blog either from Rubbing1Off, or Needed Relief. ONLY movies that have some type of Gay theme will be posted here, NO PORN! Plans are to eventually replace ALL Gigasize files with RS or SS. If you find a link that is dead, please contact me at WeOrGj@gmail.com. Will do my best for requests, as long as the requested movie is Gay Themed. Thanks, DK

Whirlwind

Handsome David Rudd stars as Drake, an exciting stranger who enters the lives of a group of thirty-something gay men in New York City. The flirtatious Drake spices up their lives, but soon creates unexpected drama. A smart and sexy exposé about the complexity of gay relationships, this touching, funny ensemble film explores non-monogamy, commitment, friendship and more—against the urban backdrop of the Big Apple.

Unconditional Love

Cast: Kathy Bates, Rupert Everett, Lynn Redgrave, Dan Aykroyd, Jonathan Pryce, Barry Manilow, Julie Andrews, Meredith Eaton

While we had to wait six years for P.J. Hogan's (Muriel's Wedding) follow-up to My Best Friend's Wedding, it was well worth the wait! This unpredictable romantic comedy features an all-star ensemble cast and lots of queer fun. On the same day her stodgy husband Max (Dan Aykroyd) announces he wants a divorce, Grace's (Kathy Bates) favorite singer, Victor Fox (a sequin-suit clad Jonathan Pryce), is murdered. Doubly distraught, the frumpy, middle-aged Grace throws caution to the wind and travels to England for Fox's funeral. There she discovers that her idol, whose reputation was that of a captivating loverman (think Tom Jones crossed with Liberace), was gay after she meets his lover, Dirk Simpson (Rupert Everett). After forming an alliance against Fox's upper crust family, who would like to suppress news of Fox's homosexuality, the pair decide to return to Chicago and bring Fox's killer to justice.
Kathy Bates shines as a bored/boring housewife who has apparently never held a job. The apartment Grace shared with Max on South Wacker Drive in Chicago reeks of money and no particular taste. When her husband leaves her for some excitement, Grace takes this as her ticket out of her humdrum life. With musical numbers on an airplane, in the area under a roadway where the homeless live and almost everywhere, Unconditional Love shines. Jonathan Pryce not only sings rather well, he's wearing a blue sequined suit in his role as the dead pop singer who looks on the events unfolding. The amazing ensemble cast includes cameos from Julie Andrews (who sings "Getting to Know You" twice in the film)and Barry Manilow, Sally Jesse Raphael and a scene-stealing Meredith Eaton as Grace's dwarf daughter-in-law.

Loggerheads

In a North Carolina beach town, lonely motel manager, George (Michael Kelly), befriends a new arrival: the attractive drifter, Michael (Kip Pardue). While claiming to be in town to protect the endangered Loggerhead turtles, Michael may actually be running away from something. Elsewhere in NC, preacher’s wife Elizabeth (Tess Harper) notices that a pair of gay men has just moved across the street. Elizabeth is appalled by this and another recent neighborhood development, the placement of a statue of naked man, but her feelings are masking an even deeper disturbance. Another woman, Grace (Bonnie Hunt), is also coming to terms with a deep down pain – she gave up a child for adoption many years ago. So she comes back to her hometown with hopes – and help from a pseudo-detective – to find him.
Making his narrative feature debut, Tim Kirkman (The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me) cleverly shuffles three sets of characters and timelines (pay attention for hints indicating which is which) that eventually intersect in a powerful, profound way. A humanistic and gifted auteur, Kirkman coaxes sublime performances from all of his leads, including earthy and sexy upcoming indie star Pardue.

Darker Secrets: Sideline Secrets 2

Blackmail, intrigue, murder and of course lots and lots of sex are all on tap in this much anticipated sequel to the top-selling Sideline Secrets. Peter is blatantly lusting after his roommate Todd, but will he be able to beguile and seduce him, or will his devious plans end in disaster?
In this sequel, of sorts, to the highly successful hit film Sideline Secrets, Peter a young traffic cop, is asked to look through hours of sex tapes the late psychiatrist Dr. Tyler and his associate Detective Cunningham made of his unwilling male patients. Both Tyler and Cunningham were killed in the first film leaving behind unanswered questions about one particular missing boy. During his search for the boy, Peter finds himself both repulsed and intrigued in the sexual perversion of Dr. Tyler's videos. After watching tape after tape Peter soon succumbs to his own dark and seedy side and hatches his own twisted plot. Peter is infatuated with his straight roommate Todd and with the secrets learned from the good doctor he plans on luring Todd into his bed. But sex with Todd is only the beginning...

Sideline Secrets

Cast: Alex Wilson, Brandon Paradine, Dan Swett, James Townsend, Sarah Kelly

Devon (Townsend) seems to be a typical high school teenager. He's from a successful family, has a loving girlfriend willing to sleep with him and he's at the top of his class. But things aren't what they seem to be. Overcome with guilt over his hidden homosexuality, Devon quickly finds himself falling for the studly and flirtatious Brian after a chance encounter. Soon the romance flourishes between the two and a world of new opportunities opens for the boy. But something isn't quite right and gay boys start disappearing around town. There seem to be secrets, nasty secrets here. The Fisher Twins of Miami Studios do a cameo in the film which also stars adult model Brandon Paradine.

Running with Scissors

If you've read the book, you've been eagerly awaiting this big screen adaptation for some time. Like the book, the film is both hysterical and scary. Set in the late '70s, the film perfectly captures the era with picture-perfect sets, costumes and music. The autobiographical story by Augusten Burroughs tells of a childhood marred by family addiction, abandonment, just plain eccentricity and a love affair between Augusten, its 15-year-old protagonist (Cross) and Neil Bookman (a barely recognizable Fiennes), a 35-year-old schizophrenic man. A simple plot summary can hardly encapsulate the craziness of this story as written and directed by the openly gay Ryan Murphy (creator of "Nip/Tuck").
Augusten's mother Deirdre is played with aplomb and high style by Annette Bening in another in a long series of amazing roles. She's an unpublished, deluded poetess who's married to Norman, an alcoholic played with great subtlety by Alec Baldwin (who seems to be everywhere these days!) After severe disfunction gets this wacky unit ground to a halt, Dierdre is sent to a new shrink Dr. Finch (Cox). Dr. Finch recommends that Deirdre end her marriage to Norman and park her son with his family. This will give Deirdre "room to breathe." So Norman is packed off to a home that makes the Addams Family look like the Cleavers. The Finches, as played to a tee by Evan Rachel Wood, Jill Clayburgh and Gwyneth Paltrow, are truly insane. Augusten quickly adapts to his new surroundings. He and his adopted sister decided one day to cut a hole in the kitchen ceiling. When Dr. Finch sees it, he remarks "I like it, the hole gives the kitchen some much needed humor." When Augusten comes out to his sister Natalie, she introduces him to their 35-year-old banished gay brother Neil (Fiennes), who hears voices. They fall quickly in lust, and no one seems to disapprove of this relationship, which many parents might consider innapropriate – it's actually encouraged. Meanwhile Deirdre is busy re-inventing herself as a lesbian. One of her two girlfriends is the amazing and under-utilized Kristin Chenoweth (Broadway's Wicked). There's too much plot here to tell more – you'll have to see the film and get more nuggets to tell at parties.
Having gay people tell gay stories makes a difference. This film is clearly told from a gay point of view that went over most critics heads. Amazing performances, spectacular sets and costumes, fun soundtrack and lots of gay content make this a perfect film for the gay movie collector.

Poster Boy

Cast: Karen Allen, Michael Lerner, Matt Newton, Jack Noseworthy, Valerie Geffner

Headstrong college student Henry is the son of U.S. Senator Jack Kray (Michael Lerner), a right-wing politician in an intense reelection battle. Henry’s disgusted with his father, yet unwilling to come out of the closet. Enter Anthony (Jack Noseworthy), an angry, boyish queer activist, and his lovelorn roommate, Izzie (Valerie Geffner). One evening, in search of distraction, the pair crashes a party on Henry’s campus. There, Anthony has sex with Henry — and finds himself wanting much more. Yet after discovering Henry’s identity, Anthony joins forces with a campus activist group plotting to disrupt the senator’s upcoming appearance. Through a jolting twist of fate, Izzie becomes ingratiated within the Krays’ ranks, bonding with the gentile matriarch, Eunice (Karen Allen). Sure enough, all these crossed wires lead to an explosive, jaw-dropping, surprise-filled climax wherein family, love and honesty are put to the test.
Extremely timely thanks to easily drawn parallels between Mary Cheney and Henry Kray, Poster Boy is also a stylistic valentine to New Queer Cinema’s heyday and the ACT-UP era's gay activism. Performances are across-the-board powerful — Lerner seethes vileness as the hypocritical senator, and Noseworthy and Newton bring intricacies to their complex characters. It’s Geffner, though, who will shatter you with her profound, star-making turn.

Jeffrey

Paul Rudnick has adapted his own off-Broadway hit with this witty if slightly flawed comedy. Jeffrey (the chipper Steven Weber), a gay aspiring actor, has come to a momentous decision: In the age of AIDS, he's going to become celibate. Then he meets the devastatingly handsome Steve (Michael T. Weiss). As these two men tentatively begin a relationship, Jeffrey learns of Steve's HIV-positive status, which only complicates his fear of commitment.
The success of Rudnick's play and film lies, partially, in creating a comedy centered around the subject of AIDS, and endowing it with an acerbic, even sardonic sense of humor. And when Jeffrey is funny (which it is most of the time), it is very, very funny. But in the filmization, certain dramatic scenes only magnify their less-than developed emotions. Patrick Stewart gloriously camps it up as Jeffrey's rich, designer friend Sterling, bringing unexpected depth to his role. Bryan Batt reprises his stage role as Sterling's PWA lover, and cameos include Sigourney Weaver, Kathy Najimy, Olympia Dukakis and a scene-stealing Nathan Lane.

Defying Gravity

This earnest low budget drama centers around a college student who is forced to come to terms with his closeted gay sexuality. Griff (Daniel Chilson) is a seemingly happy jock who blends in comfortably with his sex-starved, towel-snapping, group-showering fraternity brothers at a Southern California University. But, in reality, he’s a gay man who has been clandestinely involved with Pete (Don Handfield), his male fraternity lover. An argument ensues after Pete begins to pressure him to be more open about their relationship. After they part, Pete is attacked by gay-bashers, an action which leads Griff to question his life of lies. While the plot outline may seem like a gay After School Special, the film does raise some important issues. It is most effective in debunking the myth that the trauma of coming out is a thing of the past or affecting only those in rural or suburban settings — it demonstrates quite well that accepting one’s sexual self can be just as difficult for inner city college students today.

3 Guys, 1 Girl, 2 Weddings

Dan and Laurent are best friends and roommates with only one minor problem, Laurent is in love with Dan, who seems to feel that he's straight. So straight he's going to marry Camile -- unless Laurent gets his way.

When this writer reviews a French comedy, we're prepared to be underwhelmed as they don't seem to translate well to English, but 3 Guys, 1 Girl, 2 Weddings is a totally enjoyable exception to this rule. The story of a gay guy and the straight guy he lusts after is funny, smart and completing entertaining.
Dan and Laurent are best friends and roommates. Dan is straight, hosts a radio show called "Let's Talk Sex" and afraid of commitments. Laurent is gay, a physical therapist and involved with the a political group trying to secure marriage rights for gay people. As the story heats up Dan meets the love of his life and his whole belief system is thrown into the air. Dan moves out and Laurent is forced to face his worst demon, he's so in love with Dan, what's he to do? Suffice it to say that there's lots of mayhem in this brew and it will keep your attention.
Featuring strong performances and crisp direction, 3 Guys is a winner. (French with English subtitles)
